Every car up to 3.5 t needs a valid vignette from the moment it drives onto an Austrian motorway or expressway that requires one. Buy it in the ASFINAG Mautshop, from ASFINAG's official partners or at a sales point.

These are the 2026 rates, valid since 1 December 2025. The annual vignette for 2027 costs EUR 108.90 from 1 January 2027; bought by 31 December 2026 it still costs EUR 106.80. Vignettes for 2027 are on sale from early November 2026 and valid from 1 December 2026.
An annual vignette covers 14 months: the 2026 vignette runs from 1 December 2025 to 31 January 2027, 23:59.

The 18-day rule
Bought online as a consumer, in the ASFINAG toll shop or app, a 2-month or annual vignette is valid only from the 18th day after the purchase: 14 days to withdraw from the purchase plus 3 days for a withdrawal sent by post.

- 1-day and 10-day vignettes bought online can be valid immediately.
- At a sales point (ÖAMTC, ARBÖ, ADAC, petrol stations, tobacconists), an ASFINAG toll station or a vending machine, the digital vignette is valid immediately.
- Leaving within 17 days? Buy a 1-day or 10-day vignette online, or a 2-month or annual vignette at a sales point.
Digital only from February 2027
Sticker vignettes are no longer sold from 1 December 2026. From 1 February 2027, the day after the 2026 sticker expires, only the digital vignette is valid.
The digital vignette is linked to your number plate, so nothing goes on the windscreen. To check it, enter the plate and the country of registration in ASFINAG's vignette register.

Buy without a surcharge

Without a vignette
You risk a substitute toll of EUR 200 for a car (offences from 1 January 2026) or a fine of up to EUR 3,000.
Where no vignette is needed
- Three border sections: A 1 from the Walserberg border to Salzburg Nord, A 12 from the Kufstein border to Kufstein-Süd, and A 14 from the Hörbranz border to Hohenems.
- Six sections with their own section toll instead. Single trip for a car: A 9 Bosruck EUR 7.00, A 9 Gleinalm EUR 12.00, A 10 Tauern/Katschberg EUR 15.00, A 11 Karawanken EUR 9.00, A 13 Brenner EUR 12.50, S 16 Arlberg tunnel EUR 13.00.
Winter tyres
From 1 November to 15 April, in wintry conditions, a car needs winter tyres on all wheels, or snow chains on at least two driven wheels on a road covered with snow or ice.
